I owe you a much longer and more thoughtful post on the (gasp) revelations that Obama deliberately and maliciously lied to the American people about keeping the insurance they had if they liked it. This lie has now completely blown up in his face as millions of Americans are now receiving cancellation notices that are mandated by the new law. But, I’ve been really busy lately and haven’t had time. I know – excuses, excuses.
Every now and then, between spates of anger and frustration at the manner in which our president has deceived us in his ideological efforts to bring down the country, I find immense humor. The bit below made me laugh til I snorted coffee out my nose. Sometimes you get what you deserve!

Marlys Dietrick, a 60-year-old artist from San Antonio, said she had high hopes that the new law would help many of her friends who are chefs, actors or photographers get insured. But she said they have been turned off by high premiums and deductibles and would rather pay the fine.
“I am one of those democrats who wanted it to be better than this,” she said.
Her insurer, Humana, informed her that her plan was being canceled and that the rate for herself and her 21-year-old son for a plan compliant with the new law would rise from $300 to $705. On the federal Web site, she found a comparable plan for $623 a month. Because her annual income is about $80,000, she doesn’t qualify for subsidies.
A cheaper alternative on the federal exchange, she said, had a premium of $490 a month — but it was an HMO plan rather than the PPO plan she currently has. “I wouldn’t be able to go to the doctor I’ve been going to for years,” she said. “That is not a deal.”

Among other things, I’m sure Marlys is thrilled to be paying extra for the government-mandated maternity coverage in her plan, in the event that she decides to have another baby at the age of 60. If only Marlys had read my blog. Maybe she would have voted differently and still have the health insurance she liked so much!
