My faithful readers know I love numbers. So, as we here in DC gear up for an exciting Inaugurial weekend, I thought it would be a good time to look at some important numbers today and how they looked on Inauguration Day 2009, when Barack Obama first took office with the promise of Hope and Change. I ask you, was this the change you hoped for? Sorry, rhetorical question.

It appears you are trying to make an adhominem argument here, no?
Hey Bob, welcome to my blog and many thanks for reading it. I love adding new readers. If I can add just 7 more, I think I get into double-digit readership. I also appreciate the time you took to comment, especially because you used one of my absolute favorite Latin phrases – ad hominem (2 words, not 1 btw). Unfortunately, however, you have used it incorrectly. I have pasted below the Merriam-Webster definition of ad hominem. It refers to an attack on a person’s character as opposed to their underlying intellect, ideas, or performance. So, for example, if I had written “on the eve of President Obama’s second term, I think we should all recognize that he is a giant doo doo brain” that would most definitely be an ad hominem attack on the president. But, believe it though I may, I did not say that. I just published a statistical report card on how he had done. I actually left it for the reader to conclude, based on the numbers, whether he is a giant doo doo brain or not. Thanks again for reading and commenting!
